Match report 30/04/2011  v Whatton & Aslockton
Kinoulton 192 all out (20pts) Whatton & Aslockton 118 all out.
Kinoulton batting first on a glorious day. The wicket looked good but was very dry and inconsistent. Fox hitting the first ball for 4 setting the tone for the innings. With an opening partnership of 26 ox went for 20, Lumb (fresh out of retirement again!) batted his usual steadiness top scoring with 35.
Harling, back after 2 years on maternity leave, batted as though he’d never been away with a fluent 29. Campbell triggered for 16, Richards 6 and out, left us 150 for 5.
Minchin with four 4’s batted well until another LBW saw his return to the sidelines for 18. Towle (1) and the limping, rotund Holmes (first ball) failed. Nothing new there for the T.D.H!
A few lusty blows from Mo finished the innings to leave us on 192. This was an excellent total on a low, inconsistent bounce. A quality tea followed, ask the Veg!
The Minch opened the bowling, with a tight spell of 8 overs for 24. Although wicketless he was unlucky with a nick to keeper Fox, who took the catch. The bat was not walking. Maybe this has something to with our bat not walking last season! ( A super-injunction has since been taken out as not to name him).
Campbell opened up the hill and soon had the first wicket caught by Richards. None of their bats could get to grips with the low bounce. Campbell’s 12 overs for 57 were a little expensive but his 6 wickets kept us well on top. With Harling bowling his grub-hunters taking 3 for 3, W & A could only manage 118, so 20 points in the bag first game

Match report 07/05/2011 – v  Stanton By Dale
Kinoulton 154-9 (19pts) Stanton By Dale 110 all out (5pts)
Stanton won the toss and stuck us in with a 40 overs game. Fox, opening, soon went for 7. Wickets fell rapidly and we were 63-4. Lumb, as last week, hung around for 41, with Minchin and Baker Snr the only other bats to get in the 20’s, leaving us to finish 154-9 from 40 overs.
This was a poor show from us despite having plenty of batsmen.
Minchin, as last week, opened up and never got much luck from his 7 overs for 22 runs. Wilcox bowled only 4 overs for 12 runs due to his lack of fitness and stamina. He did admit afterwards that he’d been caning the fags and the booze for the last 3 years since his departure from Kinoulton to the farmer’s field in Keyworth.
Campbell, dependable as ever, bowled well claiming 3 for 24. Stanton didn’t lose their first wicket until 62, and at drinks were 75 for 2. It didn’t look good. Ashraf (on debut) went through ‘em as they say, with 6 for 24. What a turnaround! Skittled out for 110.
19 points DONE!

Match report  14/05/2011 v Kirkby Portland II
Kirkby Portland 134 all out (5pts) Kinoulton 138-7 (20pts)
Campbell won the toss and put Kirkby in with a force ten gale blowing on the ski slopes of Kirkby (F*$%ing freezing!).
A steady opening stand of 50 from 20 overs gave Kirkby a steady start at drinks. Wilcox bowled well, 5 overs for 9 runs then broke down, tired, poor thing.
With Minchin golfing, and Lumb making poor excuses not to play the Veg was drafted in. Campbell, Holmes, Ashraf and Baker Jnr all taking 2 wickets, with two run outs completing the innings.
Fox had a fine game behind the stumps with 2 catches and a stumping. Oh, and the usual drop! Kirkby finishing on 134.
Richards opened with The Fox. Richards got a good ball and went for 13. Tariq gave a return catch for 10. Fox was well in his stride when Campbell decided to make a game of it and ran him out for 30. The game was now in the balance with Campbell (9), Baker Snr (4), Towle (1) making it 74-6. Holmes with his top Saturday score of 2 soon went. (“I’m a bowler!” was the comment on his return).
Enter Radcliffe loanee Jacob Baker, 17 not out and a swashbuckling 30 not out from Ashraf to see us home by 3 wickets. With the Veg and the tired Wilcox to come a partnership of 54 saw us bag another 20 Pts. That was close!

Match report v Whatton &Aslockton – 21/05/2011

Kinoulton 270-8 (20pts) Whatton & Aslockton 173 all out (6pts)

On a sunny day Kinoulton won the toss and batted with Fox and Lumb opening up. Fox soon went, bowled for 3. Tariq and Lumb dug in with a partnership of 73 from 22 overs, when Tariq departed for 24. The big hitting Richards strode to the crease hitting Wallace for 22 in his first over. He went next over for 30 and returned to the pavilion chuntering about his dismissal, as usual.

Harling, on his second game of the season battered 9 man W & A with an excellent 78 not out, and with much amusement to the crowd, putting in Fox’s truck windscreen. With Minchin and Ashraf adding 25 each this set us up with a total of 270.

An excellent tea from Mary and a fine cake in the shape of a cricket ball set us up for a session in the field.

Minchin, bowling from the Hickling end, taking a wicket with the first ball and Holmes, opening up at the Kinoulton end who sprayed it around but took 2 wickets to put us well in command. The wicket was playing perfectly with batsmen North and Stavely scoring at 6 an over.

On Minchin’s withdrawal from the attack the game was held up for a few moments with Richards having to pick up several toys strewn on the outfield.

It was disappointing that none of the bowlers could keep it tight until Harling came into the attack, bowling at the wickets which the previous bowlers had trouble doing consistently. The injured Campbell being called upon to help out also bowled in the correct areas. Harling, finishing with 4 wickets closed the innings and will be missed over the next few weeks due to family commitments.

Although we could have lost, we showed great team spirit to win again meaning that we have accumulated 79 out of a possible 80 points so far this season.

Donations to the Steve Fox New Windscreen Fund can be made directly to him. He accepts cash, cheques or Strongbow.

Match report  28/05/2011 – v Epperstone

Epperstone 182 all out (7 pts) Kinoulton 186-8 (20pts)

Campbell won the toss and put Epperstone in on a grassy surface. A tight spell by Minchin kept Epperstone’s scoring down from his end. Holmes was loose and with several full pitch deliveries was despatched easily by the Epperstone openers. The introduction of D-Baker brought the first wicket but at a cost of 33 from his 4 overs. An opening partnership of 80 had us on the back foot until Ali Mo came into the attack getting a wicket on his debut.

The wicket was playing well with a fourth wicket partnership of 55 putting the home side on 170-4. With Minchin returning he got the mop out with Ruman and cleaned up. Minchin, returning figures of 4 for 20 and Ruman 3 for 38 and taking 3 excellent catches. The last 7 wickets fell for 12 runs leaving Epperstone on 182 at the tea interval.

A change in the order with Richards partnering Lumb put on 51 for the first wicket. The frustrated Richards departed, out for 38. Tariq joined the Old Trafford bound Lumb at the wicket building a partnership of 48, before Tariq was caught for 18. Captain Campbell, on his 30th birthday, came in but no one could keep him company with wickets falling at regular intervals. A tense finish was had with the ever dependable batsman Holmes (5 not out) and Campbell (49 not out) blowing the candles out on Epperstone’s day.

This hard earned victory keeps us top with 99 points out of 100.

Match report 04/06/2011 – v Kirkby Portland II

Kinoulton 260 all out (20 pts) Kirkby Portland 83 all out (4 pts)

The return fixture against Kirkby Portland (former club of Harold Larwood and Bill Voce – it’s not just a pub in West Bridgford!) started 30 minutes late due to Kirkby’s confusion over getting here. We won the toss and elected to bat. Richards and the dejected Lumb (no visit to the City Ground next season but Meadow Lane will have to do for Huddersfield) had a partnership of just 4 with Lumb going plumb LBW for 0, his first failure of the season.

With Richards getting a start he soon departed for 22. Tariq and Campbell also got starts into their 20’s before getting out. Fox, out of his comfort zone at number 5 didn’t last long, leaving us 83-5. In came old stager Baker to help Minchin who batted superbly with a career best of 72 to put on a partnership of 111 before Minchin went. Baker carried on carving up the Kirkby bowlers before being bowled for 57.

Ruman batted in his usual style with a rapid 36 before the newly promoted WING commander Holmes fell for 0 having a mighty heave-ho, leaving the field with the usual “I’m still a bowler”. An excellent total of 260 should be enough.

Minchin, opening from the Hickling end bowled tidily but wicket less after his 8 wicket haul in midweek, and looked jaded. (Golf at 8am didn’t help!) Campbell, opening up after experimenting with other bowlers in previous weeks, took wickets in his first and second overs with 2 excellent slip catches from Richards. Campbell claimed his third wicket with an excellent catch from Fox that hit the bottom edge of the bat to leave Kirkby 37-3.

A run out from team fielder and streaker Birch made it 37-4. A cross bat slog by the middle order helped Kirkby to 77 before Ruman took 3 wickets for 2 runs finishing with figures of 3 for 10. Campbell mopped up the tail finishing with 5 for 43 leaving them 83 all out.

Let’s hope the visitors, being well disposed of, got out of this “s&$t hole” quicker than they got here, a reference to what some of their players thought of the premiership facilities at Kinoulton.

That’s 119 out of 120, brilliant start, let’s keep going!

Match report  11/06/2011 – v  Ravenshead

Ravenshead 158 all out (3pts) Kinoulton 161-4 (20pts)

Campbell won the toss and put in Ravenshead on a warm overcast day. Minchin and Wilcox started us off with plenty of bowling in the line up, including one or two that did not get on. Wilcox taking the first wicket from the pub end with the tunes of the eighties making it a noisy start due to a party in progress!

Minchin from the other end bowled his usual steady self with one or two flying through to the keeper. Controversy followed when the Ravenshead opener edged through to Fox but the bat was not walking. A couple of overs later the same thing happened but the Veg gave him out with an even thicker edge, although he still would not have walked. Wilcox gave him the send off as only he could. In the same over the number four was bowled by a beauty that nipped back to hit off stump. Again Wilcox gave him the send off. (There is a bit of history allegedly!)

Wickets fell regularly after that and they should have been dismissed for about 100 but for 40 from number ten which managed to get them 158.

And so to tea......

As tea was taken most of our crew decided not to participate as it was a dry stale cob with seven or eight chips. Quality. Nearly forgot the Wagon Wheel cut into eleven segments. (Lyndon if you want to keep costs down on teas contact Ravenshead for advice!)

Fox and Lumb opened up with Richards (on an alcohol fuelled weekend) sunning himself. Fox went first scoring 21. Tariq in at three got stuck into the bowling hitting a competent 39 before being bowled leaving us 83-2. Campbell was next in and out, he also got into the bowling with a rapid 24. Wiles on his return from Kentshire seconds looked solid as usual with a red-inker. Lumb having grafted heartily was the final wicket to go with his total of 17 leaving us on 115-4. Minchin clobbered 38 from twenty balls leaving us comfortable winners by 6 wickets with 12 overs to spare.

TFC went to veteran Baker. This trophy is still with the contractor who has so far failed to deliver upon a solemn promise made to the skipper but his seven chips and stale cob made it worthwhile. 20 more points in the bag.

Match report 18/06/2011 v Chilwell

Kinoulton 135-2 (20pts) Chilwell 133-9 (3pts)

Campbell won the toss and put Chilwell in on a wet start to the day. Chilwell’s opener got stuck in to Wilcox who bowled short and wide, but then had the answer with a straight one in the corridor for The Fox to snap up. Minchin again had no luck after a short break for rain. Wilcox was replaced by Campbell who got a wicket with his second ball caught again by the reliable keeper. Mo came on for Minchin who struck immediately with a catch in the slip by Richards, a full length dive to his right.

With squad rotation in place Richards, who returned scoreless from the Algarve, replaced the TDH. Wickets fell regularly with all the bowlers getting a wicket. Campbell with the best figures (4-19) taking his tally to 22 for the season.

Lumb and Richards started us off with an opening stand of 73, Richards was the first to go with a snick behind for 39. Lumb followed next over for 26 with his total for the season now going past 200. Tariq and Campbell with 29 each got red-inkers to make it our easiest win of the season by 8 wickets.

Match report 25/06/2011 v Stanton By Dale

Stanton By Dale 243-3 (20pts) Kinoulton 184 all out (4pts)

Our march to the summit of division F was only matched by our march up Table Mountain for our game at Stanton. With the start delayed for 45 minutes due to rain Campbell opted to put Stanton in. Minchin started us off with a spell of seven overs 1-30. Mo at the other end bowled tidily with ten overs for 38. At the twenty overs drinks break all looked good with only 84 on the board. Campbell replaced Mo and in his first over went for 15. Campbell is usually our champagne bowler but this weekend had too much of the bubbles (Bollinger, not De Vere!) at the bridge the night before, with his 6 overs going for 61 (ouch!).

Ruman went for 5 an over off his ten and with Baker Jnr going for 37 off his four only him and Minchin (2-45) getting wickets leaving us with 243 to chase.

An excellent tea was put on by Stanton.

Richards and Lumb started us off with us chasing 7 an over which was not beyond our batting capability. Richards was batting his usual big hitting self. We were soon in the brown when an excellent catch saw him depart for 17. Tariq was bowled for 2 leaving us 23-2 from eleven overs. Campbell was in excellent form with the bat with a rapid 42 to get us back on target until he was run out which started a collapse with Minchin doing a 6 and out trying to get the run rate back on track. Ruman was sent in to fire us up and did so with 23. Lumb was next out for 24 with the total on 136-6. Wiles wasted no time in putting his first scoring shot over the boundary and batted to the situation that was required. Fox blobbed it first ball, a bit of resistance from Wiles (38) and Baker Jnr (15) before we fell away and 60 runs short. Very disappointed to lose our first game of the season. Until next week....don’t have nightmares. Time for bed.

Match report 02/07/2011 – v  Calverton

Kinoulton 117-3 (20pts) Calverton 116 All out (1pt)

A top of the table clash at the half way point in the season between first and third. Campbell won the toss and put Calverton in on a hot sunny day. Minchin and Ali Mo opened up with Minchin bowling the opener for 0 in his third over with Richards taking his seventh catch of the season at slip.

Mo at the other end bowled the other opener for nil with the stump cart wheeling back leaving Calverton 11-2. After seven overs for 31 Mo was replaced by Ruman. Minchin with another tight spell of nine overs for 21 was replaced by Campbell. After a partnership of 44 Ruman had an LBW upheld by the Veg and with Campbell taking a wicket next over left Calverton 56-4.

Wickets fell regularly with the opponents struggling to score without losing wickets, with some excellent catches by Wiles (yes Wiles!), Lumb and a one handed running catch by Tariq (no-one was more surprised than him that it stuck!)

A leg side stumping by Fox capped off an excellent fielding display with even Fox’s biggest critic Wiles having to admit it was o.k. Campbell 5-29 and Ruman 3-29 leaving the visitors 116 all out.

An excellent tea by Mrs Lumb with fresh “chicken laid” strawberry cakes which went down well!

With Richards and Lumb starting us off Richards batted with excellence to record his first Saturday 50. Lumb was first to depart for 17 LBW to the Veg. An opening stand of 72 set us up nicely. Richards (59) was next out chasing a wide one caught behind. With Tariq hitting the cover fielder for 4 it was left to Campbell to end up not out on 22, and the opposition could not get the rock Wiles out who again red-inked on 0 as the crowd had already left the stadium.

With no game next week the squad departed for a sunshine break in Barbados, with the exception of Wiles who has been called up to the England ODI squad.

Hope you all have a happy Christmas and New Year.

Match Report 23/07/2011 – v Beeston & Toton
Beeston & Toton 217-7 (6pts) Kinoulton 219-6 (18pts)
After the mid season break and a rained off match against Calverton it was back to the campaign with B&T at the much improved ground which looked flat with even coverage of grass. B&T batted first with Minchin and Mo opening up. Minchin took the first wicket with 20 on the board on a hot day. With a second wicket partnership of 120, B&T were on for 250+. Campbell broke the partnership just after drinks, with wickets falling regularly with Ruman taking the opener for 67. With Baker Jnr into the attack the runs dried up, leaving them to finish on 217. Baker with excellent figures of 2-38 from his twelve.  If he can improve his fielding he has a bright future at Kinoulton if he wants one!
After tea Richards and Fox opened with run machine Lumb on holiday. After a steady start Richards tried for a quick single to the keeper but was run out. Tariq got stuck in straight away with a succession of boundaries. With the score on 62 he was run out with a poor call from Fox leaving him stranded. With Fox departing straight after drinks for 45, Campbell was joined by Wiles, who could not handle the pressure and was LBW plumb, and could not complain. All rounder Minchin joined the skipper and with a 50 partnership put us on track at 145-5, before finding long on for 29. Baker came and went for 7. Campbell was joined by Mo who hit an excellent 38 not out to finish the game with an over left. Campbell finished on 43 not out to hold the innings together, for a great game played in excellent spirit by both teams.  18 points gained making 200 points for the season.

Match Report 30/07/2011 - v Epperstone
Kinoulton 280-6 (20pts) Epperstone 105 all out (2pts)
On a red hot day Campbell won the toss and decided to bat. Richards and Fox started us off. After ten overs 57 runs were on the board on an A46 of a road. Runs came freely for both bats with Richards bringing up his 50 in the fifteenth over. Fox kept him company and was needed to guide him all the way. Fox was first to go for 41 from 62 balls (bit slow, but he is getting on!) with the best opening stand of the season of 117. Tariq, in next, also wasted no time on getting on with it with a rapid 46 from 52 balls. Richards went for a season best of 89. Minchin red-inked for 25 and with Mo hitting a rapid 17, we finished on 280.
After an excellent tea by Campbell, Minchin took the new ball and went through a poor Epperstone batting line-up with 4-27 from 10 overs. Campbell kept it tight with 6 overs 2-11 taking his 30th of the season. Baker jnr bowled well after bottom half resistance with 3-33. After the skipper felt sorry for TDH he was brought on with Epperstone requiring 170 to win and claimed his wicket. An excellent performance again, 20 more points in the bag!

Match Report 06/08/2011 – v  Eastwood
Eastwood 167 all out (3pts) Kinoulton 171-2 (20pts)
Our top of the table clash with Eastwood got off to a bad start with three of our players not turning up until fifteen minutes after the start. Campbell won the toss and elected to field with eight (Re: Barrowby). Minchin started us off with 5 off the first over and Campbell going for 6 off his. Minchin took the first wicket with a jaffa that nipped away to hit middle.
The Eastwood opener Hill was in good form taking runs at will (no pun intended!) from Minchin. At the other end Campbell kept it tight with three wickets leaving Clint’s boys in trouble at 75-4. Hill’s 50 came up with the score on 58, with the other “batsmen” looking clueless against our bowlers. Wickets fell regularly with Mo getting in on the act and with Ruman replacing Campbell he kept it tight with his eleven overs going for 31 and 3 wickets, apart from his legside missiles going for byes leaving the keeper with no chance. The unforgiven Holmes bowled well with his three overs going for 8 and his wicket ended the day for Eastwood on 167. The fielding was excellent, with excellent catches from Mo and three from Campbell. A snick behind to the keeper left a bad taste in the Kinoulton team with blatant cheating twice from Towle of Eastwood these being a thick nick behind and an LBW, which he then said to have “hit” only for Campbell to catch.
An excellent tea was enjoyed by all, with warm chips, unlike Ravenshead!
Fox and Richards began our reply, chasing 168 to win on a grassy but excellent track. A steady start with both bats hitting boundaries early on. Fox went first in the sixth over for 11, attempting square cut, and chopping on. Tariq, next in, soon went for 2 leaving us on the back foot at 24-2. Baker Snr in at 4 then proceeded to knock off the remaining 145 runs with Richards, who had his best knock for the club with 114 not out and passing 450 runs for the season, ably helped by Baker with 36 not out with ten overs to spare. Cool hand Richards’ knock of 114 with 15 fours and 5 sixes certainly made his day! The victory took us to promotion with four games remaining, now for the title! On leaving the ground the cry of “turn right Clyde” was not heard.
Any which way but lose.

Match report 13/08/2011 – v Beeston and Toton Sycamore
Kinoulton 174- 8 (19pts) BATS 139 all out (5pts)
Campbell won the toss and put us in with Richards and Fox opening. The usual fluent start was had with 9 from the first over. After eight overs Richards was first to go for 26 with 39 on the board. Tariq joined Fox who was next out for 17, leaving us 50-2. Tariq returned to the pavilion for 5 leaving us 59-3. After a partnership of 30 between Campbell and Baker, Campbell departed for 27. Wickets were falling regularly with Minchin out or 1 leaving us in trouble at 108-6. Wiles dug in with Baker who had an LBW upheld by Veg, for 21. Mo joined Wiles, who after a slow start accelerated at the right time for 39 not out to leave us on 174-8 which was a good recovery.
After a Minchin tea, he opened up with Campbell.  First wicket was a run out, with excellent fielding by Minchin at cover. BATS were in no trouble with the opening bowlers, until the introduction of Ruman and Hussain, with Ruman taking 2 wickets in two overs to leave BATS on 63-3. Three poor shots let us back in the game with catches in the deep. Ruman finished with 5-32, taking him to 30 wickets for the season, and with Hussain turned the game. Hussain took 1-27 from his twelve. Club clown Birch dropped a dolly at mid-on, but the returning Minchin spared his blushes by bowling him next over. A great victory after it looked as if we hadn’t scored enough. (Which we hadn’t!)
With our double over BATS, 2 out of 2 ain’t bad. We are one hell of a team!

****************************************Match Report 20/08/2011 v Chilwell
Chilwell 117 all out (4pts) Kinoulton 183-8 (20 pts)
With no correspondent available from Reuters News Agency due to conflicts abroad, Kinoulton batted first on a poor wicket. Mo top scored with 45 out of our total of 183. Chilwell batted to make 117 all out. Campbell 3-47 and Ruman 4-14.

Match Report 27/08/2011 v Ravenshead
Kinoulton 206-7 (19pts) Ravenshead 151-8 (4pts)
As with last week the club reporter was on a beach south of Skeggy. Kinoulton batted first with Campbell 50, Minchin 35 and Mo red-inking for 29. Total after 40 rain affected overs 206.
Ravenshead apparently batted out with no intention of going for the runs with 151 from 40 overs, Minchin getting 4-28. Highlight of the innings was Birch running in, slipping and taking one straight on the town halls. Quality!

Match report 03/09/2011 v Eastwood
Kinoulton 163 all out (6pts) Eastwood 191-8 (20pts)
Eastwood batted first on a poor track with inconsistent bounce. Minchin started off with 15 from his first over, 11 being extras. Although not bowling at his best he still took 6 wickets, his first Michelle of the season. Campbell at the other end was his usual miserly self with 12 overs 1-28. Eastwood’s batting struggled to 87-7 at 20 overs. The introduction of Baker and Ruman got the scoreboard moving with only one more wicket falling. Eastwood finished on 191 (50 too many with 46 extras and poor quality fielding all round).
After tea Baker and Tariq opened with Baker going second ball and Wiles going for 7. Campbell and Tariq took the score to 80 before Campbell went for 29. Tariq was batting solidly but with Minchin hitting 2 4’s and then getting out we started to wobble. Mo hit a quick 12 before departing, Maj on promotion from the two’s, hit 8 and Fox in at 8 due to being hit on the arm several times whilst keeping joined Tariq. Tariq went for a season best 52. Ruman went first ball to one that kept low, with prop forward Holmes in at 10, 50 were still needed. Fox with 18 went as did Holmes for a season best of 10 leaving us well short of our target.
A defeat for division F champions was soon put to one side as captain Campbell got the fizz out, and an excellent curry was had afterwards by the squad. With over 300 points and only 2 defeats an excellent season was had by all (hopefully!).

Run aggregates and wickets will be available soon. For the none team players, averages
